2. Module Introduction This module provides participants details for VoiceMail Pro Text to Speech (TTS) including: • VoiceMail Pro Text to Speech capabilities • Text to Speech version availability • Installation and configuration requirements • Using TTS to record prompts for call flow actions • Email notification of new voicemail messages • Enabling Email Reading • Troubleshooting?

3. Text to Speech overview VoiceMail Pro is able to support Text to Speech features including: • Speaking text in call flows using the Speak Text action • Recording Entry Prompts used by call flow actions • Email reading in voicemail for configured users with a MAPI compliant email program • Interactive Voice Response (IVR) functions by using information passed from Call Variables used in database actions.

4. Text to Speech Licensing The Speak Text action and Prompt recording within an action requires one of the following licenses: • Generic TTS • Enabled by the Advanced Edition license for up to 8 ports of concurrent usage • VM Pro TTS (Generic) licenses can be added (alternatively?) • Avaya ScanSoft TTS • ScanSoft (Nuance) software supplied separately from Voicemail Pro • Not supported on Microsoft Vista NOTE: Avaya recommends only one type of license per system

5. Text to Speech Licensing - continued VoiceMail Pro Email Reading • Support for TTS Email reading is enabled with the Preferred Edition system license • Email reading can only be enabled for IP Office users whose Profile setting is set to Mobile User or Power User • Email reading is only supported using Intuity mode • Email reading cannot be used for e-mails in HTML format. • Voicemail Email using a MAPI client must be configured on the VoiceMail Pro server prior to enabling Email Reading • A maximum of eight users can use TTS functionality simultaneously. In an SCN with Centralized Voicemail Pro, the limit will apply for the whole SCN.

6. Voicemail Email overview VoiceMail Pro can integrate with email systems to provide notification in email of voicemail messages. • Voicemail Email • Can copy, forward or alert a user or hunt group of new voicemail messages via email • Can be configured for either SMTP or MAPI operation • Must be configured for MAPI operation prior to enabling Email Reading feature • TTS licenses are not required for Voicemail Email

7. Configuring Voicemail Email • In the Manager application, select the Voicemail Tab of the user to configure • Provide the email address of the user • Select the Voicemail Email option to use: • Copy, Forward or Alert

8. Using the Speak Text action The text to be spoken can include combinations of: • Typed sentences • VoiceMail Pro Call Variables (e.g. $DBD[0]) • Text with SAPI 5 XML tags added

9. TTS SAPI Controls Windows TTS engines use Microsoft’s SAPI (Speech Application Program Interface) XML tags to change how the text is spoken. The following are samples of the SAPI XML controls supported by VoiceMail Pro TTS: • Spell • Silence • Partofsp (Part of Speech) • Volume • Rate • Pitch • Emph (emphasis)

10. TTS Prompt Generation On systems licensed for TTS operation the Wave Editor can be used to create prompts. When Text to Speech is selected as the media device: • The prompt file is generated from the action’s Description field • The Language and Playback Device options are available

11. MAPI Setup for Email Reading • Voicemail Domain Account • Administrative account with permission to access user / hunt group email mailboxes • Grant permission on Exchange server or • Within Outlook for each mailbox (Delegate access) • Configure Outlook • On the Exchange Server • On the Client computer • Configure VoiceMail Pro for MAPI operation
