Bluetooth Object Tracking System Design for Enhanced Safety

This report details the progress of our electronic system designed to track the distance of objects using Bluetooth technology. The system aims to prevent the loss of property, pets, and children, addressing the alarming statistic of 2,185 missing children reported daily by the DOJ and the high percentage of pet ownership in U.S. households. Major milestones achieved include part ordering, website design, and microcontroller programming. Ongoing tasks involve coding threshold levels and prototype design, with testing and debugging planned for completion soon.

Need for Design • To prevent the loss of property, pet, and/or children • Statistical Facts- • DOJ reported an average of 2,185 children missing every day • ASPCA states that 65% of households in the U.S. have pets • Common knowledge: Everyone will or had misplaced a personal item in their lifetime Milestones: • Order all parts 2/6/2012-complete • Design website 2/16/2012-complete • Program microcontroller 3/1/2012~75% complete • Construct prototype 3/15/2012 • Debug prototype 4/1/2012

  3. Task Recently Completed • We have uploaded the team website. • Established communication between android and arduino board. • Have written the program source code to calculate signal strength.

  4. Ongoing Tasks • Working on coding the threshold levels. • Designing the prototype. • Finish the project file.
