  4. Demographics Our students are: • Place bound, transfer locally • High percentage of minority, first generation, low-income students • 9/12 institutions have majority part-time students, remaining 3 have residential campuses • 11/12 majority of students are female

  5. colleges colleges colleges colleges Reverse Transfer Process allowing students who transfer to a baccalaureate institution with a high number of credit hours but no degree to apply upper division courses to lower division coursework to complete an associate degree.

Benefits Student: • Provides students with an intervening credential • May increase employability or salary • Requires little to no resources from student Colleges and universities: • Helps meet accountability measures at community colleges • Promotes student success by eliminating barriers • Aligns with national and state goals of increasing the number of students attaining high-quality postsecondary credentials

  11. SMHEC first steps • Establish criteria – narrow focus • Universities run report • Provide list of eligible students to university advisors • Advisors interview students to receive feedback • Creation of barrier analysis and decision tree • Evaluate feedback to determine next steps

  12. Cohort definition • Students who transferred without receiving an associate degree • Transferred in > 45 hrs • Transferred from SMHEC 2-yr institution • Elementary Ed or Business majors only • Transferred in Fall 2009 or later - IPEDS
