THE ARAHTHOS RIVER The Arahthos river stems from the Pindos ranse on an altitude of 1700m. It flows northen to Metsovo and it is called Metsovitikos. As it flows down it meets the Dipotamos river and then it is called Arahthos. The Zagoritikos, Vardas, Metsovitikos, Kalaritikos, Sarandaporos and kalendini are its tributaries. It mouth’s into the Amvrakikos golf. It creates the salt marsh Logarou, Rodias and Tsoukalio. These saltmarshes creat the ecological system of Amvrakikos which is one of the most important one all over the world
The Arahthos is one of the most valuable rivers of Ipeiros because of its fauna and its beautiful scenery it is accessible from many places.
The Arahthos 143 Km long crosses the Eastern part of the country and flows towards the Amvrakikos gulf. The Zagoritikos, Vardas, metsovitikos and Kalaritikos are poured in the Arahthos
THE BRIDGE OF ARTA • It is the most notorius multibow bridge over Arahthos. At the moment it is in avery good condition. • It’s greatest difficulty in being construeted is the reason that it became so well known through the poetry, tradition, legent, painting, music and the theatre. All these prouse the handwork which is required for such a masterpiece.
THE BRIDGE OF PLAKA(1860) • It is over to Arahthos and was buit in 1866 • It is the most impressive bridge all over Greece
PAPASTATHI BRIDGE(1746) • It is over the Arahthos. • Its length is 37m and its height is 4,70m. It has got fours bows. The highest one is 4,70m while the other are 2,50m, 1,70m and 0,60m each
THE BRIDGE OF POLITSA • It is a stone bridge with only one bow. We don’t know when it was built and who it was built by.
THE KABER AGA BRIDGE • It has got rather low height it has got a rather strange wide size shape completely different from the others
