Second semester overview • The empathy project • What is it like to live somebody else’s life? • Kind of a lot of work but: • Spread out over the semester. • Lots of class time to work. • Even people who don’t like school, enjoy this project. • Many students describe this as the best part of freshman English. I am all a-flutter! • Everybody will “get it.” Many of you will like it. • Lots of fun, almost exclusively done in class. • Many teachers named Fitzgerald describe this as the best part of freshman English. Second semester overview • Choice book / poetry unit • I couldn’t decide between the two, but I think we’ll have time to do both. • Another choice book opportunity – this time the list is more focused on novels. • A survey of poetry (which will make you physically stronger and more attractive to people you’d like to date).   9. Skills checklist • We’ll start a new checklist for second semester. • Rate yourself on a scale of 1-5. • Set reading, writing, and academic goals for the semester. You are in charge of your learning. Ste goals that will help you. Read Write Speak Listen
