  2. Successful Prayer • Most say if prayer is not answered “yes” it is not successful • God only hears the righteous, 1 Peter 3:12; Proverbs 15:29 • Righteous men were answered “no” • Jesus, Matt. 26:39 Paul, 2 Cor. 12:8-9 • Honors God, waits for, trusts and accepts his answer

  3. To be heardby God • Contrite heart, Psa. 51:14-17 • Humble and turn from sin, 2 Chrn. 7:12-15; Luke 18:9-14 • Godly fear, Heb. 5:7 • Whole heart, Jer. 29:11-14 • Set heart and soul to seek God, 1 Ths. 5:17; 1 Peter 3:10-12 • Do not lose heart, Luke 18:1

  4. To be heard by God • Faith in God and his power, Mark 11:24 • Come to God with complete trust and put our life in his hands, Mark 14:36 • Not double-minded; a focused faith, Jas. 1:5-8 • Confident God hears us, 1 John 5:14-15 (Heb. 4:16)

To be heard by God • Be a righteous person, James 5:16 • God does not attend to the prayers of sinners, John 9:31; Psalm 66:18-20 • God is not in communion with sinners • Prayer is a blessing enjoyed in Christ • Be obedient, 1 John 3:22-23 • Jesus was heard because of his godly fear, Hebrews 5:7-8

  6. God will not hear prayers • In disobedience, Deut. 1:43-45 • In rejection of his law, Prov. 28:9 • In vain worship and sinful treatment of others, Isaiah 1:12-15; 59:1-8; Micah 3:4; Ezekiel 8:17-18 • In self-indulgence, James 4:3-4 (8-10)

  7. Prayer is God’s BlessingPhilippians 4:6-7, 19 • Secures us • Assures us • Convinces us • God loves us and hears us • God supplies us
