  1. A Simulation Study of Optimal Bandwidth Allocation for VBR MPEG-4 Streaming over MPLS-NetworksProject ProposalMuhammad Asif Tasleem 2004-03-0021

  2. MPEG-4 over MPLS Networks • A New Architecture for Transmission of MPEG-4 Video on MPLS NetworksGeng Sheng Kuo, C.T. Lai • It proposes a new architecture, “Actively Reserved Bandwidth” architecture, which improves CR-LDP in the MPLS domain. • It claims treating one VOP (like I-VOP, P-VOP, B-VOP) as a unit of transmission is more efficient than treating one packet as a unit of transmission.

  3. MPEG-4 over MPLS Networks • A Study on the Performance Enhancements of Video Streaming Service based on MPLS NetworksJoong-Min Kim, Chung-Hyun Kim • This paper compares delay, throughput and packet loss of video streaming service over IP network and MPLS network. • MPLS Network was setup using fixed bandwidth LSP.

  4. Video over MPLS Networks • Multi-Stream Video Transport over MPLS Networks Hang Man and Yang Li • It proposes a 3-D subband/wavelet video coder generating the source data traffic. A special feature of this video coder is that the coded bit stream can he easily segmented into sub-streams with different quality of service (QoS) requirements. • After source coding and segmentation, multiple streams are formed. Each stream is labeled with different forwarding equivalence classes (FEC). • Specific label switch paths (LSPs) are selected by the MPLS protocols to achieve the desired quality levels. The proposed scheme is studied under the metrics such as the end-to-end video delivery quality, the bandwidth consumption and the pricing of the service.

  5. What I want to do? • Can we transmit different layers of MPEG-4 video over different QoS based FEC of MPLS? • Can we allocate bandwidth for an LSP based on peak rate, average rate and maximum burst size of the video traffic? • What are the delay, throughput and packet loss comparisons with fixed bandwidth LSP? • Can we perform simulations on Omnet++ or Opnet? What I don’t want to do? • Don’t want to change the MPLS architecture • Don’t want to suggest any source coding technique.

  6. MPEG-4 over the Internet • MPEG-4 Video Transmission over Internet D. Milovanovic, Z. Bojkovic • Transmission of Mpeg-4 Video over the Internet Steven Gringeri, Sami hen, and Roman Egorov • Mpeg-4 Compressed Video over the Internet Dapeng Wu, Yiwei Thomas Hou, Wenwu Zhu, Ya-Qin Zhangs, H.
