CRIMINAL JUSTICE LIAISON & DIVERSION • SAFETY • Identification and assessment STARTING AT Police Custody will improve risk management all the way through the system • ACCESS • Doing the right assessments on the right people at the right time will deliver the right disposals and enable access to the right services • EFFICIENCY eg. we could have…. • London wide agreement on efficient use of places of safety • Police Station services that deliver health outcomes • Diversion from CJS at an earlier stage, where this is appropriate • Fewer psychiatric reports to court, but on the right people • Fewer escorts from prison for treatment • More timely prison transfers, at lower cost • Fewer prison recalls as a result of treatment unavailability • Reduced re-offending and reduced crime • Fewer deaths in custody
