1. What is Kaal Sarp Dosha? Rahu should be ahead of the ascendant (Lagna), and Ketu should be behind, and all the planets should fall in between these 2 planets and no planet should be in conjunction with either of those 2 planets (Rahu and Ketu). The above-mentioned verse does not come from any Vedic text. This verse came in to use sometime after 1950s. Meaning: Whenever, in a birth chart, all the planets come in between Rahu and Ketu they form a Dosha called Kaal Sarp Dosha. For example if Rahu is in second house, Ketu in eighth house and rest of the seven planets (Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Moon, Jupiter and Saturn) are placed between Rahu and Ketu (between 2nd and 8th house) on either side of the birth horoscope, than Kaal Sarp Dosha will arise. There are 12 different types of Kaal Sarp Doshas and they are classified on the basis of the placement of Rahu and Ketu. Many astrologers consider partial Kaal Sarp Dosha as well which is formed when even one or few planets are not in between Rahu and Ketu. Such partial Kaal Sarp Dosha is called Anshik Kaal Sarp Dosha. Since Anshik Kaal Sarp Dosha is not considered by many astrologers hence we do not generate a report on the same.
