  1. WHY DO NURSES WEAR SCRUBS? SCRUBS HELP NURSES IDENTIFY CONTAMINANTS AND BODILY FLUIDS, ARE INEXPENSIVE TO REPLACE, GET CLEANED USING HARSH CHEMICALS AND HEAT

  2. SCRUBS HELP IDENTIFY POTENTIAL CONTAMINANTS Scrubs are great for helping medical professionals identify contaminants and bodily waste such as vomit, stool, urine, blood and other fluids or chemicals. SCRUBS ARE CLEANED UNDER HARSH CONDITIONS Healthcare facilities that clean the scrubs and nursing uniforms that nurses wear may use special cleaning chemicals and high temperature machines to clean the nurses scrubs.

  3. SCRUBS ARE CLEANER THAN REGULAR CLOTHING Given the fact that some healthcare facilities clean their nurses scrubs it is likely that the scrubs will be cleaner than a nurses own personal clothing. SCRUBS ARE INEXPENSIVE Basic nursing scrubs are often inexpensive which makes them easily disposable if necessary and allows them to be cleaned under harsh circumstances with little concern.

  4. SCRUBS PREVENT PERSONAL CLOTHING FROM BEING RUINED Scrubs prevent nurses from having to wear their own clothing, which could be ruined in the workplace as their personal clothing would likely come into contact with blood, stool, urine, vomit and other bodily fluids that may be common where the nurse works. SCRUBS OFFER EASY ACCESSIBILITY Scrubs that offer lots of pocket space can make it easier for nurses to carry around their tools and equipment.

  5. SCRUBS HELPS IDENTIFY NURSES Just as police and firefighters wear uniforms when they’re working nurses also wear uniforms which helps patients and coworkers identify them in the work place. SCRUBS CREATE A UNIFORMED HEALTHCARE SYSTEM In addition to helping individuals identify the nurses in the facility some healthcare organizations feel that scrubs offer a more uniform and professional appearance.
