  3. Biografía de Guerra • Juan Luis Guerra studied at Berklee to realize his dream of being a jazz musician. He returned to his country and cut one album in Manhattan transfer style, but when it flopped he decided to pursue the musical styles of his own country: merengue and bachata. • Juan Luis Guerra ha causado sensación en el Caribe y en los EE.UU como compositor e intérprete de melodiosos merengues junto con su conjunto, llamado simplemente, 4-40. El merengue, es tremendamente popular en la República Dominicana.

  4. El Merengue • El Merengue sintetiza el alma musical dominicana. Es la expresión integrada de nuestras culturas ancestrales, donde lo aborigen, expresado en el güiro; lo africano, en la tambora y lo europeo, expresado en el acordeón.
