  2. Procedures • Assignments: • Must be e-mailed by due date. • mwolter@taftisd.net • Need help call • After school in classroom until 5 p.m. • after 8 p.m. and before 10 p.m. • 361-528-3522 •  Tardy—not in a desk ready to begin class

  3. Supplies • 3-Ring Binder (1 ½”) with three dividers • Reader’s • Writer’s • Vocabulary • SAT words every week that there is a Monday and Thursday • Writing instruments (3 different colors) • Notebook Paper

  4. School Material Students, you are required to come to school PREPARED, meaning, with the necessary material. If you so happen to BORROW a utensil from a teacher, please RETURN IT.

  5. Grading Policy-- MINOR GRADES • (40%)--Assignments used in daily work is mastering skills • --8 daily grades per grading period • GRADES:  Daily Assignments: • --on time                                =  100 • --1 day late                            =    90 • --2 days late                           =    80 • --3 days late                           =    70 • --4 days late or more                =    60 • --by Wed. of last week or after   =    50

Grading Policy– Major GRADES • (50%)--(used to assess mastery skills) Tests, projects, research papers • --Test date will be set with a minimum per grading period of two days notice. • --may retest on Major Grades • After students have received scores, they have 5 school days to come in for a retest and will receive the higher of the grades with a 75 being the highest grade on a retest.

  7. Grading Policy– Reading Grade • (10%)—Every grading period • Office will prepare the test.

  8. Making Up Assignments • Any work missed due to illness needs to be made up within 5 school days. • All written work is due by the last Wednesday of the grading period for that grading period grade for a 60. • Any work turned in later than Wednesday of a grading period receives a 50 up to the end of year.

  9. Accelerated Reader • --counts for two daily grades • Points : • Applied English II or IV—one book per grading period • English II or IV--15 pts./grading period • AP & GT English II or IV--20 pts./grading period • Grading: • ARM: Accelerated Reader Mastery (test averages) • ARP: Accelerated Reader Points (# of pts./pts. needed)

  10. : Restroom Procedures • Student must sign out by filling out the hall pass with destination and time leaving • Student must take pass with them. • Only one student out at a time. • Only 3 minutes given. • Upon returning, student must post time returned. • When privileges are abused, students may have privilege restricted or revoked • Severe case are handled by the office where student is escorted to the bathroom by an administrator.

  11. Discipline • Social Contract • Names recorded on a pad • Discipline Notes will be delivered to you • 24 Hours notice • Stay after school

  13. In Class Behavior Don’t Sleep during a lesson. Instead... Do your work and learn. It’s much more rewarding in the end!

  14. Speaking with Permission Students, raise your hand, you WILL be heard. Do NOT shout across the room, speak without permission, or talk while someone else is talking is NOT tolerated at THS.

  15. How to answer Teacher Phone Teacher’s phone is NOT to be used unless given permission by a TEACHER. What you should say • When answering the phone, the proper way to answer is: “ Mr./Mrs./Ms.(Teacher’s Name) room, student speaking...” NOT: “Hey”, or “What’s up” Remember, Phone calls are for the TEACHERS not the STUDENTS.

  16. GUM Chewing Gum.... Students are asked to dispose gum properly and NOT UNDER DESKS!! You’re not saving it!!

  17. NO FOOD OR DRINKS IN CLASS • Students, food and drinks are prohibited from a classroom during the school day.

  18. Electronics Cell Phones are prohibited during Class...The only time you can use them is: Before School, Lunch, and After School. MP3’s, IPods, PSP’s, and other electronically devices are not allowed during class. They will be collected and turned into the office.

  19. School Hallway Guidlines

  20. HALL PASS and Privileges Students, you do not leave class unless you carry a HALL PASS SIGNED by your TEACHER.

  21. To go to the Nurses’ office, you MUST have a SLIP from your TEACHER to do so. This is NOT going to the RESTROOM. This is MISUSING your Hall Privileges which CAN be taken away.

  22. Prohibited Areas and Entering the Class room Students, the Teachers’ Lounge is off limits during all times of the school day. You are not allowed to enter for you are not a TEACHER. Students, when entering a class room, we ask you do it in a mannerly fashion and not cause a disruption. Disruptions: Banging on the door or Window, Kicking the door, rattling the door knob violently etc..

  23. The Library and Closed Campus When going to the library, you are asked to have a note from your teacher.. Students, Taft ISD is a CLOSED CAMPUS. Meaning, you are NOT allowed to leave (including Lunch) unless you are signed out by Legal Guardian.

  24. PDA PDA includes: Kissing, Holding hands, Hugging, or any type of PHYSICAL CONTACT with the opposite Sex. Students, PDA is not tolerated at Taft ISD.
