The Art of Tabla: Exploring the Dayan and Bayan Drums

The tabla is a traditional Indian percussion instrument consisting of two drums: the dayan, made of wood, and the larger bayan, which can be crafted from materials like aluminum, iron, copper, steel, or clay. Each drum features a distinctive black spot on its surface, enhancing its unique sound. The dayan is played with the fingertips, while the bayan is struck with the heel of the left hand. This versatile instrument is integral to both solo performances and musical ensembles.
