The existence of God Do we really think we can comprehend the magnitude of a being who has created a universe with more than a million billion galaxies; where each galaxy has hundred of billions of stars? Are we naive enough to think we can understand the complexity of a being who created a universe where every ounce has more than a 100 million trillion highly organized atoms?   6. Theology Theology comes from a Greek word which means “study of God.” Theology is simply humanity’s attempt to understand God as He is revealed in the Bible. No theology will ever fully explain God and His ways. God is infinitely and eternally higher than we are. Therefore any attempt to describe Him will fall short (Romans 11:33-36).

  7. Theology Theology is a science, an attempt to present what we can know and understand about God in an organised and understandable manner. Theology is organising the teachings of God’s Word in an understandable way. Proper, Biblical theology is a good thing - it is the teachings of God’s Word (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

  8. The doctrine of God The doctrine of God is the central point for the rest of theology. One’s view of God might even be thought of as supplying the whole framework within which one’s theology is constructed, life is lived and ministry is conducted. Millard Erickson

  9. The existence of God Can we prove that God exist?

  10. Why do people doubt the existence of God? • I cannot see or hear him. • My experience does not affirm him. • It is too good to be true. • I cannot comprehend an eternal being. • There are too many views about Him. • I cannot understand why He would allow so much suffering.

  11. Why are people confident about the existence of God? • Design of the universe. • The majority of the world is on my side. • The lack of any other adequate explanation. • The universal concept of morality and aesthetics. • The bible says so. • Answers the most basic philosophical question that there is: “Why is there something rather than nothing?”

  12. 6 reasons given as to how the universe came into existence • There is not anything: all is an illusion. • The universe is self created. • The universe is created by chance. • The universe is created by nothing. • The universe has existed for eternity. • An eternal self existent God created the universe. Universal axiom: When all of the options have been deduced, the one remaining is the right one.

  14. Why is there something rather than nothing? • There is not anything: all is an illusion If all is an illusion, where did the illusion come from? (Ad infinitum)

  15. Why is there something rather than nothing? 2. The universe is self created Something could not create itself since it would have to predate itself to create itself. This is a logical contradiction and, therefore, absurd.

The universe is created by chance Sophisticated arguments of chance creation have been formulated which dazzle our mathematical comprehension … What are the real chances of the universe created by chance? No chance. Chance is incapable of creating a single molecule, let alone an entire universe. Why not? Chance is a no thing, it is not an entity. It has no being, no power, no force. It can affect nothing because it has no causal power within it. It is a word which describes mathematical possibility which by the flip of the fallacy of ambiguity. Slips into the discussion as if it were a real entity with real power, supreme power, the power of creativity. R C Sproul

  21. The so-called proofs for the existence of God • Sensus divinitatis argument (A sense of the divine. Innate sense of the divine built within them. Universal need to worship.) Psalms 14:1; Rom 1:20, Gen 1:27 • Teleological argument (design / designer) Rom 1:20-21 Psalms 19:1-4 • Ontological argument (God cannot not exist) • Moral argument (anthropological) (all people have a concept of right and wrong) Rom 2:14-15 • Pascal’s Wager (If you say there is not a God and there is, there will be drastic consequences. If you say there is a God and there is not, you are non the worse, there is no consequences. Therefore one should believe in God • Cosmological argument (cause & effect) • Cumulative case argument (all of the above together builds a strong case for the existence of God)

  27. IN 1 SQUARE INCH OF SKIN WE HAVE 4 YARDS OF NERVE FIBRES 1300 NERVE CELLS 100 SWEAT GLANDS 3 MILLION CELLS 3 YARDS OF BLOOD VESSELS.

  28. EVERY CELL IN OUR BODIES CONTAINS DNA, GENETIC INFORMATION. EACH CELL CONTAINS ROUGHLY THE SAME INFORMATION AS A LIBRARY OF 4,000 BOOKS.

  30. THE BRITISH LIBRARY CONTAINS 150,000,000 BOOKS THIS MEANS THAT YOUR BRAIN CONTAINS THE EQUIVALENT AMOUNT OF INFORMATION AS TEN THOUSAND MILLION MILLIONBRITISH LIBRARIES ALL IN YOUR HEAD! YOU ARE SO CLEVER! AND IT’S ALL JUST BY CHANCE ?

  31. FACT THE AVERAGE PERSON HAS 50 TRILLION CELLS IF YOU EXTRACTED ALL THE DNA IN YOUR BODY IT WOULD FILL 2 TABLESPOONS 1PERSONS DNA (FROM THOSE TWO TABLE SPOONS) WOULD STRETCH FROM THE EARTH TO THE SUN AND BACK 600 TIMES ! (THE SUN IS 93 MILLION MILES AWAY) ALL BY CHANCE…MMMM
