  9. Itinerary Day 1: Moshi to West Kilimanjaro | 64km Our ride today takes us from greener southern side of Mt. Kilimanjaro towards the more arid western side of the mountain. Your ride today will initially take you through coffee and banana plantations as you cycle through the more fertile areas of southern Kilimanjaro but as you head west you will cycle through the more arid open plains and acacia woodlands. These plains support a remarkable variety of wildlife and spectacular views of Mt. Kilimanjaro. While Moshi is home the Chagga people west Kilimanjaro plains are home to the nomadic Maasai people who co-exist with the surrounding wildlife and it is why this area is known as the Maasai Lands. Your ride today will be on both dirt and tarmac roads and you will finish the ride at the Olpopongi Maasai Village where you will be spending the night. Overnight: Olpopongi Maasai Cultural Village Meals: Lunch & Dinner Included Day 2: West Kilimanjaro to Arusha | 83km Today’s cycle will be a long one as we cycle from the west Kilimanjaro plains towards Arusha city. The first section of the ride will be through the Ngasurai open plains which serve as a migratory path for elephants moving to and from the Amboseli National Park in Kenya. Cyclist should look forward to a hot and dusty day ahead. Once we finish the dirt road we will enter the main tarmac road towards Arusha city passing a few small villages and settlements along with Mt. Meru looming in the background. Right before reaching the bustling city of Arusha we will divert through a coffee estate as we head towards our boutique lodge located outside the city. We will end our ride today at the Tembo Club / Carnivore hotel where we will be spending the night. The ride will take us through many villages, towns and open plains.   10. you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them” After completing the tarmac road section, we will divert onto the dirt road that takes us to our camp right on the border of the Tarangire National Park, which is home to the largest concentration of elephants in Tanzania. Today we will be spending the night at the Roika Tented Lodge, which marks the perfect ending to a long, hot day of cycling since there is a swimming pool where you can cool off. Overnight: Roika Tented camp Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included Day 4: Tarangire to Airport / Moshi | Drive With an early pick from your hotel at 07.00, just a 10 minutes’ drive will take us to the main entrance of Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s real treasures. Enduimet borders Amboseli National Park and serves as an important migratory route for wildlife including the African elephants. This area is inhabited primarily by the Maasai people but there are large populations of other tribes such as the Chagga, Meru and Pare people. Your ride starts off on the wide-open plains dotted with acacia trees but it gets greener as you approach the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro where a lot of cultivation takes place. You’re cycling tour today ends at Simba Farm which is situated on top of the vast wheat and barley fields overlooking the west Kilimanjaro plains.   12. Today you will be cycling towards the north east side of Mt. Kilimanjaro to Nalemoru village near the Kenyan border. Nalemoru village is where the Rongai route up Kilimanjaro starts off. Your ride today takes you through beautiful open farmlands with breathtaking views of the west Kilimanjaro plains behind you. You will cycle through several vibrant towns as you head up the foothills of the mountain towards the Rongai forest. Your ride today ends at the Snowcap Cottages which are nestled right on the edge of the Rongai forest. On a clear day you can enjoy amazing views of Kilimanjaro’s Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Day 4 Nalemoru - Lake Chala | 64KM Road Surface: Tarmac and Dirt road Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner. Accommodation: Lake Chala Safari lodge Today you will enjoy a downward hill ride towards the beautiful Lake Chala, a crater lake lying right on the border between Kenya and Tanzania. Before getting to your camp you will take a detour to the iconic Ndoro waterfalls where you can stretch your legs and walk down to the base of the waterfalls. While

After spending some time refreshing by the waterfalls you will finish the last downhill stretch of your ride towards the camp / hotel where you will be spending the night. Day 6 Marangu Village - Moshi | 49KM Road Surface: Tarmac and dirt road Accommodation: Kilimanjaro crane Hotel Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner You will be wrapping up your last day of cycling by traversing the villages and plantations on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The first half of the ride will be comprised of several steep ascents and descents followed by a second half which is a gradual downhill ride towards the bustling and vibrant Moshi Town. You will cycle through the suburbs and outskirts of Moshi Town on the back roads as you head towards the Hotel which marks the end of your incredible journey around Mt. Kilimanjaro, on two wheels. This mountain bike tour to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895m /19,340 ft) is done on Kilema Route, which joins Marangu route on second day and share same route all the way to the top. Our experienced guides will cycle with you the whole trip up to Uhuru Peak, our porters will carry your luggage and set up a camp for the first night (on the 5-day tour you will skip this camp and continue riding to the Horombo hut). The rest of the trip you will sleep in clean mountain huts. 1 Day: Marangu Gate / Kilema Gate - Kilema Camp Elevation: (1,950 m / 6,400 ft) to (3,100 m / 10,170 ft) After breakfast we will pick you up from your hotel. You will meet our team and drive to Marangu Gate. The journey (1-2 hours) passes through the village of Marangu on the lower slopes of the mountain. At the gate we will register you at the park office and the luggage will be weighed. After signing-in we drive another 30min to the Kilema gate. Upon arrival you will ensure that you have all your daypack items (containing at least drinking water, your lunch pack and extra clothing) and do a final check on your mountain bike. You will then start cycling the first route section with your guide through the lush rainforest spotting Black and White Colobus and blue monkeys and enjoying the fascinating flora with beautiful flowers until we reach the camp. Here your tent and a hot dinner will already be waiting for you. This is the only night you will spend camping, the rest of the days you will overnights at huts accommodations. Altitude Gained: 1150m Vegetation: Rainforest, Heathier/ Moorland zone Meals included: Lunch Box at night Hot dinner will be prepared 2 Day: Kilema Camp – Horombo Hut Elevation: (3,100m / 10170ft) to (3,720m / 12,200 ft) After breakfast you will get on your bike again. Today´s trail is steeper, on some parts we will have to get off the bike and walk, on others we can cycle until we reach the huts for hot lunch. The afternoon you can spend relaxing, enjoying the stunning views or exploring nature until your hot lunch. Riding Distance: 8km Riding/ Hiking Time: 4 hours Altitude Gained: 620m / 2030ft Habitat: heather/ moorland zone Meals included: Breakfast, Hot Lunch and Hot Dinner will be prepared 3 Day: Acclimatization Day This day is very important for your acclimatization. Today we will hike (or cycle) up to 4000 m / 13,150 ft and return back to Horombo hut for a hot lunch and relax the rest of the day enjoying the magnificent views. Your body will be busy with acclimatization to the height. The trail is quite rocky, so most people prefer to hike and leave their bicycle at the hut. We recommend that, but want to give you the option. Those you like to mountain bike usually carry their bikes up and the ride down.

Riding / Hiking Distance: 5km Riding/ hiking time: 2-3 hours Altitude gained: 280m Habitat: Moorland Zone Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Hot Dinner will be prepared. 4 Day: Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut Elevation: (3,720m / 12,200ft) to (4,700m / 15,430 ft) We will start the day carrying our bicycles and hike with it because of some rocks. After a while you will continue cycling, the trail becomes flat and sandy, leads across the heath and then reaches the alpine desert with its volcanic rocks and spectacular view of Mawenzi and Kibo peak can be seen at this point. It will be quite windy, so you will need to be prepared and have your wind jacket. Today you will have some breaks for drinking and eating some energy bars, giving you energy to this challenging tour. The last bit up to Kibo Huts is going to be physically challenging, however we doing it "Pole-Pole" as we say (Slowly and Steady) you will make it and be rewarded with a hot dinner at Kibo hut. You better go to bed early, as the exiting summit day lays ahead of you tomorrow. We will wake you up around midnight for summit push. We usually hike to Uhuru Peak, but you can take your bike, our summit porters will help you carrying. We will aim to reach Gilman’s Point (5,756m/18,885 ft) by dawn, the first of three official summit points of Mount Kilimanjaro. Finally, after following the edge of the crater, you will stand at Uhuru Peak, the highest point of Kibo. After taking memorable pictures and enjoying the precious moment on the roof top of Africa we will start descending. Below 5,000m/ 16,400ft you can get on your bike as it is not as sandy anymore. Still, you need to be very careful. From Kibo hut, where you will celebrate with our team and get a well-deserved hot lunch, we will be cycling down to Horombo Hut.
