To promote the development, improvement and extension of opportunities to veterans, servicemen and dependents for personal development
3. What Can NAVPA Do For You? Direct contact and input with Veterans’ Affairs Central Office, Department of Defense, the House and Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committees
Provide testimony at congressional hearings, monitors and provides input to lawmakers
Sponsors an annual conference which offers training, workshops and seminars
Provides timely information to its members in a published Reference & Resource Guide We are an established and recognized organization. We are an established and recognized organization.
4. NAVPA Representation Throughout the year, NAVPA is invited to bring expertise and information to various organizations, agencies and on the ‘Hill.’ Since January, 2012, the Board of Directors has represented, met with, participated and/or attended the following:
Met with VSO representatives; MOAA, VFW, American Legion, & IAVA
National Association of State Approving Agencies (NASAA) Midyear Meeting
Met with House & Senate VAC Staff on ‘the Hill’
NASAA reception for Senator Jon Tester, member of SVAC, in DC
Panelist at American Legion Education Symposium, in DC Dorothy and Kim to D.C. in January.
Midyear board meeting to visiting agencies in February and our President represented NAVPA on a panel at the SAA meeting. This was at our midyear meeting in Washington dc.
Tester voted to bring back SAA’s responsibilities that PL11-377 took away. For example approving programs especially for ojt and ncds, etc.
As you know SAA’s are just assisting the VA with compliance, they need to have more. The bill is still in the works.
American Legion Symposium Tim and Kim attended and Kim was a panelist discussed NAVPA’s issues and various other issues with SVA, Vfw.Dorothy and Kim to D.C. in January.

Counsel veterans before they get into the school so they understand the financial and educational opportunities …we brought up at hearing that this is difficult for schools to provide all financial information.

Who Can Belong?
INSTITUTIONAL: Only representatives of Educational/Training institutions which serve the interests and needs of veterans
INDIVIDUAL: Individuals who are directly involved in veterans affairs programs from non-member Educational/Training institutions
ASSOCIATE: All persons/institutions and/or agencies involved with programs of education, outreach, counseling, and employment for veterans

Each institutional membership shall bear one vote and have full membership privileges. The institutional representative, as indicated on the application for membership, shall exercise the institution's voting privilege and shall be entitled to hold office in the Association
