Collaborative interoperability project between .EDEN., .MESU., and LIMS to enhance data accessibility and communication, benefitting 400 physicians, 230 funeral directors, and OME in Utah. This initiative aims to improve reporting, epidemiology, and research capabilities by co-locating MESU and EDEN systems, with an anticipated completion date of August 2009.

EDEN Overview • Users: 400 physicians, 230 funeral directors, OME, LHD, State office • Web-based program using MySQL/PHP hosted at the state capitol data center • Operational August 1, 2006 • 15,000+ deaths per year
MESU Overview • Medical Examiner’s System of Utah • Users: OME pathologists, investigators and admin staff, Deputy ME’s and Law Enforcement statewide • MESU provides permanent storage for investigation information • 3100 deaths referred to OME in 2008 • 2000 deaths investigated in 2008
LIMS Overview • Laboratory Information Management System • Produced by Labware, client/server with Oracle • OME uses the Toxicology part of LIMS • There is currently no link between MESU and LIMS
