Tonight, in (er, near...OK, near-ish) Chicago, the Black MLS All-Stars will take on the world all-star team that is Real Madrid. Major League Soccer will never not have a mid-season spectacular light on substance and heavy on branding opportunities. It’s the kind of event that can be kind of fun if you shut your brain off, basically. Needless to say, no D.C. United players were invited to be on the 24 man MLS roster, which has some questionable choices (but no preposterous Beckham/Lampard nominees based solely on broadcast partner demands). However, it’s probably better than prime-time TV options on a Wednesday night, so you might as well tune in. Location: Toyota Park (Bridgeview, IL) Kickoff time: 8:30pm Eastern
