Word Processing • Use in the composition process (grammar and spelling checkers) • Criticism: learners frequently misspell a word then choose the first correction offered without considering its appropriateness or not. • Learners can add new words ??? • Grammar support- questionable. Why? • Can be used by T and S for creating semi-authentic learning materials featuring text, tables, and illustrations as well as simple websites or blogs.

Computer-mediated communication • CMC includes communication by email, bulletin board, chat lines and within MOO (Multi-user domains, object oriented) environments. • CMC does not necessarily involve learning. • How can teachers use CMC in teaching? • Email (netpals), chat lines, Bulletin boards (webct, global classroom, Moodle, Black board)
