  7. When Should I Apply? • Be aware of Deadlines • Submit Applications at least 2 weeks before deadline • Nov. 16 - Guidance Deadline for January 1st • Early Decision, Early Action, Rolling Admissions, Regular

  8. Application Components • Online Application • Letters of recommendation • Essay • Transcripts • Test scores • Must be sent by student to colleges/universities directly • Activity Record • Financial aid

  9. The College Essay • Check applications for essay topics • Possible supplemental essays • Content, substance, and depth of insight • Creativity and originality • Spelling and grammar are critical • PROOFREAD! • Operation Success

  10. Activity Record • Include: clubs, sports, community service, employment, awards, etc. • 1 page (or less) • Prioritize activities • Please give a copy to Counseling Dept.

  11. The Common Application • www.commonapp.org • One application for multiple schools • Some colleges require supplemental forms • Must be matched with Naviance Family Connection

  12. Naviance & Common App Match • Naviance Family Connection • Video on how to establish Common App account and match to Naviance Family Connection on Guidance Page (2 minute video) • Establishing this connection allows us to send records electronically via Naviance

  13. Teacher Letter of Recommendation • Request in person & electronically via Naviance • 2 weeks notice • Give teacher form with accomplishments • Thank you note

  14. Application Processing Forms • Pink – Regular Decision • Blue – Early Action or Early Decision • Used for internal tracking and verification • Student folders • Check Naviance Family Connection for updates on application status

Student/Athlete Reminder • Interested in playing Division I or II collegiate sports? - You need to register with the NCAA Eligibility Center to be eligible to play. - Apply on-line at www.ncaa.org *Transcript can be sent via Naviance* • College Athletics Presentation-October 3rd, 7pm, Auditorium
