  4. Remember!The more qualifications you have the more choice and earnings potential you will have when looking for a job

  5. Further Education To progress onto the next level of your course To undertake another course because you want to change your career direction For the full range of courses at St Helens College visit www.sthelens.ac.uk. Apply online or ask for an application form in reception

  6. Higher Education This could be a degree, HND, HNC or Foundation Degree This route is for students that have achieved a level 3 qualification. Each university course has specific entry requirements. Visit www.ucas.co.uk for more information

  7. Apprenticeships Jobs with formal training at 3 levels: Intermediate : training to NVQ level 2 plus technical certificate and functional skills Advanced: training to NVQ level 3 plus technical certificate and functional skills Higher: training to NVQ level 4 To undertake an apprenticeship you need to be employed. Visit the National Apprenticeship website for more information www.apprenticeships.org.uk

Other employment Other paid employment may or may not offer formal training To prepare you will need a good quality CV and covering letter Remember there is a hidden jobs market: Many jobs are not advertised You need to use your own contacts, networks and local sources of information on new employers
