  2. Aristotle • Greek Philosopher that defined the term “Play” in a book called The Poetics. 5Elements of a Play Plot Character Thought (Theme) Diction (Words) Spectacle Song

  3. Character • A of role representing a personality type through voice, psychology, mannerisms, movement, etc…

  4. Director • The guy in charge of the show. He leaves after Opening.

  5. Choreographer • This person is in charge of making up, and teaching the dance or stage combat in a production.

  6. Rendering • A picture of what a designer wants made.

  7. Lighting Designer • The artist in charge of the lights for the show. Very mathematical. Has to use algebra and geometry so he doesn’t start a fire. • Light has different color elements

  8. Set Designer • The artist that designs all the settings for a production.

  9. Sound Designer • The artist that puts together all the music and sound cues for a show.

  10. Stage Manager • This is the person in charge of everything once the director leaves—including pay checks! He reads cues, fills in for people who are ill, and is the general babysitter for everything backstage.

  11. House Manager • The person in charge of the audience during a show.

  12. Playwright • The artist who writes the play and has a message (thought, theme) to “change society.”
