DMLF-Irr 26-28 July 2011 in Bangkok, Thailand co-funded by Govt. of Thailand and JAIF attended by 9 AMS except Brunei and representatives from ASEC, FAO and THAICID also attended Approx. 40 attendants With one-day Study Visit Thailand Information Paper 14thMeeting of AWGWRM 16-17 June 2014, Siem Reap, Cambodia

DMLF-Irr identified 7 problems, namely sub-optimum O&M and dysfunctional irrigation facilities insufficient irrigation infrastructure to cover all irrigated areas weakness in legal and policy framework weakness in community cooperation and farmers’ participation inadequate water supply and uneven distribution in the dry season water conflicts, and lack of funding for R&D.   4. DMLF-Irr The 12th Meeting of AWGWRM, 25-27 July 2012 in Ha Long City, Viet Nam agreed that Thailand will conduct a follow up workshop based on inputs from AMS. The 13th Meeting of AWGWRM, 25-26 June 2013 in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam requested AMS to provide their inputs on the proposed action steps to Thailand to work further onto a follow up workshop. DMLF-Irr So far, Thailand has got inputs from 4 AMS: - Lao PDR: The follow up workshop is strongly needed with more focus on water allocation for various sectors - Malaysia: To consider looking into topics on inter-sectoral demand management - Myanmar: Proposed solutions and suggested action steps to each of the identified problems - Philippines: The follow up workshop should include water allocation for different uses to address water conflicts Thailand Information Paper 14thMeeting of AWGWRM 16-17 June 2014, Siem Reap, Cambodia

  6. DMLF-Irr Thailand has explored the opportunity for the Royal Irrigation Department of Thailand other water management sectors - domestic and - industry to co-host a follow up workshop and assist in developing a proposal.
