  1. Team Worker Positive Thinker Creative Entrepreneur Independent Learner Reflective Learner Responsible Citizen Real life cross/curricular links? Where are we in our journey? Which ones are you using? Enterprise Skills LESSON OBJECTIVES Always aim high! We are learning to: • Enhance our Mathematical learning skills. (Which Enterprise skills?) • Accurately construct angles bisectors and perpendicular bisectors. (Level 6) AUTHOR www.mistrymaths.co.uk

  3. Team Worker Positive Thinker Creative Entrepreneur Independent Learner Reflective Learner Responsible Citizen BRAIN IN GEAR Enterprise Skills Which ones are you using? EXAMPLE DITDIONA can be rearranged to make ADDITION TASK Work out the following Mathematical anagrams: Perpendicular Bisector Compasses EXTENSION Develop your own Mathematical anagrams as above as a creative entrepreneur.

  4. Team Worker Positive Thinker Creative Entrepreneur Independent Learner Reflective Learner Responsible Citizen STARTER Enterprise Skills Which ones are you using? TASK EXTENSION 1) 1) Write 90 as product of prime factors. Work out: 2 4 2 3 (c) (b) (a) = 4 x 4 = 2 x 2 x 2 = 6 and -6 90 = 16 = 8 2) Circle the prime numbers below: 10 9 1, 2, 7, 9, 12, 15, 21, 23, 26, 29 3) Find the nth term of the sequence: 5 2 3 3 1, 5, 9, 13, 17, ….. 2 = 2 x 3 x 5 = 4n - 3 4) Work out: 2) (c) (b) -15 ÷ -3 -5 - 3 4 x -5 (a) 42° = -8 = 5 = -20 Alternate angles

  9. Team Worker Positive Thinker Creative Entrepreneur Independent Learner Reflective Learner Responsible Citizen CONSTRUCTION Enterprise Skills Which ones are you using? TASK (LEVEL 6) 1) Draw a line AB 10cm in length. Using compasses, construct the perpendicular bisector. 2) Draw a line CD of any length. Using compasses, construct the perpendicular bisector of the line. 3) Using a protractor, draw an angle of 80°. Using compasses, construct the angle bisector of this angle. Measure the two angles formed to check they are both 40° 4) Using a protractor, draw and angle of 140°. Using compasses, construct the angle bisector of this angle. Measure the two angles formed to check that they are both 70°.

  10. Team Worker Positive Thinker Creative Entrepreneur Independent Learner Reflective Learner Responsible Citizen CONSTRUCTION Enterprise Skills Which ones are you using? EXTENSION (LEVEL 6) 1) To construct the inscribed circle of a triangle Draw a triangle ABC with sides of any length. Construct the angle bisectors for each of the three angles. The three angle bisectors will meet at a point O in the centre of the triangle. Using O as the centre, draw a circle to touch the three sides of the triangle.

  11. MINI-PLENARY ACTIVITY – EXAM QUESTION M L equidistant from two fixed points.

  12. Team Worker Positive Thinker Creative Entrepreneur Independent Learner Reflective Learner Responsible Citizen • LINK BACK TO OBJECTIVES • Accurately construct angles bisectors and perpendicular bisectors. What level are we working at? DISCOVERY Enterprise Skills Which ones are you using?

  13. Team Worker Positive Thinker Creative Entrepreneur Independent Learner Reflective Learner Responsible Citizen CONSTRUCTION Enterprise Skills Which ones are you using? PLENARY ACTIVITY Using your enterprise skills, see if you can discover how to draw an equilateral triangle using a ruler and compasses. EQUILATERAL TRIANGLE

  14. What level are we working at? Where are we in our journey? What have you learnt? Draw your brain In your brain, write or draw everything you can remember about finding angle and perpendicular bisectors. It can be a skill or a reflection, or something else that might be prominent in your brain.
