  1. The 3-rd Work Meeting of the CBM -MPD STS Consortium“Technical challenges of the CBM and MPDSilicon Tracking Systems 2009” DEMONSTRATORS OF THE YEAR 2009 Session # 5: Demonstrators of the year 2009 and beyond Sortavala, Karelia, Russia June 1 - 4, 2009 Scientific Research Technological Institute of Instrument Engineering Kharkov, Ukraine e-mail: borshchov@kharkov.ukrtel.net

  2. DEMONSTRATOR 1-a Demonstrator 0-b connected to 1-chip readout front-end boards (FEB) through microcables with ERNI connectors on both ends FEB-1nx-gen Demonstrator 0-b Analog cable with ERNI connectors 128 lines 10-30 cm length x 4 HV lines Sortavala, June, 2009 e-mail: borshchov@kharkov.ukrtel.net

  3. DEMONSTRATOR 0-b 2 modules were manufactured on last year and the successful beam-test in Protvino (IHEP) have passed For the demonstrator 1-a the similar modules (with application the same or other baby-sensors) can be manufactured Sortavala, June, 2009 e-mail: borshchov@kharkov.ukrtel.net

  4. DEMONSTRATOR 1-b Instead of Demonstrator module 0-b, a new carrier board a CBM02B2 sensor is used. Connection microcable to detector carrying out by TAB-bonding Analog cable with ERNI connectors (to back side) 128 lines 10-30 cm length FEB-1nx-gen HV lines Analog cable with ERNI connectors (to front side) 128 lines 10-30 cm length Board carrying (for CBM02B2 sensor) Sortavala, June, 2009 e-mail: borshchov@kharkov.ukrtel.net

  5. ANALOG CABLE WITH ERNI ERNI connectors 154743 female-type 2 x 68 pins Analog cable 128 lines 10-30 cm length ERNI Flex-mount on PCB 128 lines ERNI Flex-mount on PCB 128 lines ERNI connectors 114805 male-type 2 x 68 pins Sortavala, June, 2009 e-mail: borshchov@kharkov.ukrtel.net

  6. ANALOG CABLES WITH ERNIfirst prototype • Mounting of ERNIs • to Flex-mounts. • Soldering. • 2. Mounting of soldered ERNI on Flex-mounts • to rigid board. • Gluing, soldering. Length of cable – 20 cm; Traces pitch – 110 um. TAB-bonding 128 lines 3. Ultrasonic bonding of Analog cable to Flex-mount: 128 traces/bonds. 4. Bonds protection (Glue UP-10-14). Sortavala, June, 2009 e-mail: borshchov@kharkov.ukrtel.net

  7. DEMONSTRATORS 1-cmechanical model Using of full-size CBM03/ISTC dummy sensor. Assembling of two parts of a mini ladder with micro-cables and the 4-chip front-end boards FEB with 4 n-XYTER chips CF support Analog cables (double-layer) 1024 (512x2) lines 10-30 cm length Full-size detector CBM03/ISTC Daisy-chain cables 1024 lines Full-size detectors CBM03/ISTC Sortavala, June, 2009 e-mail: borshchov@kharkov.ukrtel.net

  8. FEB WITH 4 N-XYTER CHIPSpossible design for the Demonstrator 1-c For mechanical Demonstrator 1-c the dummy FEB with use of multi-layer aluminum-polyimide board can be made Double-layer chip-cable with chip Pitch-adapter Top layer Bottom layer Alumina base Sortavala, June, 2009 e-mail: borshchov@kharkov.ukrtel.net

  9. CONCLUSIONS • The design of analog cables with ERNI connectors for Demonstrators 1-a and 1-b is developed. • The first samples of analog cables with ERNI connectors are made. • The development of a carrier-board design for Demonstrator 1-b is begun. • It is necessary to choose the FEB design for Demonstrator 1-c. • It is necessary to agree the design of mechanical support (CF) for Demonstrator 1-c. Sortavala, June, 2009 e-mail: borshchov@kharkov.ukrtel.net

  10. Thank you for your attention Sortavala, June, 2009 e-mail: borshchov@kharkov.ukrtel.net
