  2. Goals: B.1.3 -Develop and communicate a shared vision for grants, career technical education, foundational skills, and learning communities that helps to achieve the college mission. E.3.1-Formulate a process to coordinate and integrate grant projects in order to leverage resources and make significant institutional change.

  3. Title III & Basic Skills Two Themes: • Institutional Effectiveness: Creating a Learning College • Pathways to Success: Collaborating to support student success

  4. Institutional Effectiveness Goals Culture of Assessment and Inquiry: The college will engage in an ongoing cycle of assessment as a result of which faculty, staff, and administration will continuously collaborate to make concrete improvements to student learning in our classes and college.

  5. Institutional Effectiveness Achievements Teaching and Learning Center: • Over 110 different faculty and staff in 30 disciplines/areas have been involved in sustained small inquiry, action, and implementation projects (DARTs, APPLEs, FIGs, and POPs); • 50 faculty/staff have been trained in Academy of College Excellence curriculum.

  6. Institutional Effectiveness Achievements Assessment: • Promoted a culture of assessment at college; • Implemented 6-semester ILO assessment cycle; • Formed Assessment Committee (reps for each department); • Engaged in course, program, and ILO assessments that have driven curricular and pedagogical improvements

  7. Pathways to Success Goals: Coordinate student services and academic programs so that students successfully navigate college systems and access support services that enhance and accelerate their success. (A.2.1) Accelerate student progress through Basic Skills curricula:Increase and accelerate the rate of success of students who enter basic skills classes, so that most students pass transfer-level classes in math and English in 2 or 3 semesters.

  8. Pathways to Success Achievements: • Developed new accelerated curricula (English, ESL, math, and MMART); • Partnered with community organizations, local businesses, schools, and agencies; • Supported Learning Communities (PERSIST, Green Career Pathways, PHS); • Linked First-Year Experience curriculum to learning communities and English courses.

  9. Next Steps • Link student services with instruction; • Institutionalize essential components of Special Projects activities; • Secure new sources of funding; • Address students' awareness of academic culture; • Include CTE and other grants and special projects.

  10. Support We Need • Increase participation from additional stakeholders; • Institutionalize funding and other support for essential activities; • Prioritize time to collaborate.

  11. Big Questions: What do we need to do to institutionalize Title III and other grant-funded activities for the long-term benefit of the college? How can we prioritize time for participation of multiple stakeholders without increasing workloads?
