STRATEGY FOR STRENGTHENING PARTICIPATION BY CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS AND SOCIAL ACTORS IN ACTIVITIES OF THE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES (OAS) • 5 goals • Facilitate the registration of CSOs and social actors in the CSO Registry; • Increase the level and scope of participation and recommendations submitted by CSOs • Provide timely information to CSOs and social actors on OAS activities through the use of ICTs. • Consider the contributions and proposals submitted by CSOs and social actors and take them into account during the deliberations of OAS organs, agencies and entities; • Draft periodic reports on the work carried out, the recommendations received from civil society and social actors and the decisions adopted by Member States in relation to the contributions received;

Highlights – October 2013 to October 2014 • 434 CSOs registered with the OAS to date • 177 announcements sent to civil society during the period • Updated Manual for Civil Society Participation in OAS Activities • New Strategy for Strengthening Participation by Civil Society Organizations and Social Actors in Activities of the Organization of American States (OAS) • Improvements to the OAS Civil Society Website • 11th anniversary of the Hemispheric Forum with Civil Society prior to the General Assembly • Participation of 309 representatives from 190 CSOs in the XLIV OAS General Assembly • CSO Participation facilitated in 20 meetings of OAS organs
