Trial starting in Finland in August, 2013 • Croatia  ongoing investigations in Croatia and Finland • Egypt  ongoing trial in the Court of appeal in Finland

Finland - Slovenia • Obstacles and added value of EJ involvement • troubles in launching investigations in Slovenia • coordination meetings at EJ JIT was agreed • confidentiality of exchanged information within JIT cooperation • documents and information related to ongoing investigations in Finland were published by media in Slovenia  EJ was needed to enhance mutual trust by National Members and coordination • Documents and information in possession of Slovenian authorities is not shared with Finnish authorities despite of JIT agreement  unsolved • Slovenian Judge requested information of interpretation of Finnish Coersive Measures Act in accordance of ECHR jurisprudence  replied by NM for FI

Finland - Croatia - Austria • Obstacles and added value of EJ involvement • parallel investigations and multilateral information exchange • coordination meetings at EJ JIT was agreed + extended • next CM on 22th of February • EJ facilitated national authorities to establish direct connections • lack of resources • JIT funding (200.000 Euros granted by the Commission) enabled recruiting of four fulltime investigators in Finland

  5. Finland - Egypt • Obstacles and added value of EJ involvement • unexecuted LoRs in Egypt. Charges regarding bribing public authorities in Finland were acquitted as District Court could not find enough evidence on the status of Egyptian directors of certain Companies • several emails to Egyptian contact point known by the French desk without success • Trial at the Court of Appeal started • EJ strategic meeting in Cyprus in October 2012 with EU`s southern neighbours • meeting “by lucky coincidence” with the Egyptian contact point  LoR was executed in February 2013 and Egyptian directors proved to be public authorities.
