What is « MyOcean » ? • MyOcean is the implementation project of the European Marine Core Service, aiming at deploying during years 2009-2011 the first integrated pan-European capacity for ocean monitoring and forecasting. • Invented by the main European players in ocean monitoring and forecasting (the ones involved in GODAE), co-funded by them and the European Commission GODAE Final Symposium, 12 – 15 November 2008, Nice, France

MyOcean is … • … a European PROJECT • A European Commission FP7 project from the « GMES » program, coordinated by MERCATOR OCEAN • 3 years : 2009 - 2010 - 2011 • Total cost 60 M€, with 33 M€ from the European Commission 2009 – 2010 – 2011 • … a European SERVICE • The main component of the GMES « Marine Core Service » • Global & Regional Ocean monitoring and forecasting Marine Core Service • … a European TEAM • 60 partners, out of 28 countries ; an effort of ~200 person/year • 20 core partners committed for operations; european best monitoring and forecasting systems Pan-European team GODAE Final Symposium, 12 – 15 November 2008, Nice, France
