New Jersey is in the process of increasing the legal purchase age for tobacco products from 19 to 21. This change follows a trend set by NYC and aims to reduce youth access to tobacco, including cigarettes, smokeless tobacco, and electronic smoking devices. Current laws prohibit selling tobacco products to anyone under 19, and violations can incur penalties of up to $1,000, potentially leading to license suspensions. Additionally, New Jersey's Smoke-Free Air Act mandates smoke-free workplaces, encompassing electronic cigarettes since 2010.
