  2. Keys to Injury Prevention • Encourage proper pitching mechanics • Keep pitchers long term health in mind • General physical conditioning and stretching/strengthening program

  3. Rehabilitation Exercises • Scaption • External Rotation • Push Ups Plus • Sleeper stretch

  4. Scaption • No shrugging • Raise arms at 45 degree angle, leading with thumbs • Raise to shoulder height, then slowly lower to hips

  5. External Rotation • Towel roll under elbow • Keep shoulder blade stable, “down and back” • Don’t “roll” your shoulder

  6. Push Up Plus • Lean onto table/counter/couch • Lower into a push up and return • Finish with a “plus” – Push mid-back outward

  7. Stretches Sleeper Stretch TowelStretch

  8. When To Seek Medical Attention • Pain • Hours after throwing or with day to day activities • Worsening • At night • Progressing into other locations • Pain with decreased velocity • Constant complaints of fatigue • Change in mechanics due to pain
