  3. Monarchy • Head of state inherits his/her job • Usually, a monarchy is run by a king or queen, who makes all the laws and major government decisions

  6. Constitutional Monarchy • For the most part, the monarchs in a C.M. do not have any real power. The power is held by another part of the government • For example, in Great Britain government decisions are made by Parliament

  8. Dictatorship • Head of State : dictator • People have little to no control over the gov’t and its decisions • Keep power through force and intimidation

  12. Democracy • People run the government (elect the H.O.S. and representatives) • People control government by voting • Barack Obama of the United States of America

  13. Types of democracies • Direct • In a direct democracy, citizens make policy and law decisions in person, without going through representatives • Representative • Citizens elect representatives to make gov’t decisions to benefit the whole nation
