  3. PCC Day One for RDA Authority Records March 31, 2013 After this date, all new records entering the LC/NACO Authority File will be constructed according to RDA.

  4. RDA NACO Training Training materials are freely available: http://www.loc.gov/catworkshop/courses/rda_naco/index.html Underway now Self-paced; combination of techniques

  5. RDA Policy Decisions for Authority Records 21 separate detailed decisions Conference headings – two kinds Collective conference authority records Individual conference authority records New MARC Authority fields (e.g., 046, 37x) Reciprocal 5xx fields, using terms from RDA Appendix J & K Definitions for Fields 670 and 675 adjusted

  6. Transitioning the LC/NACO Authority File 95.1% (7,631,000 records) headings would be formulated the same as AACR2 2.8% (225,000 records) headings need human intervention 2.1% (172,000 records) headings need machine updating

  7. Automated changes coming to 5% of the LC/NACO Authority File Phase 1: 667 fields added to records whose 1xx cannot be used under RDA (and will require manual review) Will start when testing is done Phase 2: Make RDA-related changes to access fields (automated changes) Start in March 2013
