  2. What are Wiki Technologies ? • It’s a database • It’s a collaboration platform • It does not require the user to be a programmer or know HTML to use it.

  3. What is Wikipedia ? “THE Wiki” • Conceived and born in January, 2001 • Put the Wiki technology platform in public eye • It is the worlds largest FREE multilingual encyclopedia with over 3.2 million English articles.

  4. What is the history of the Wiki ? • Originally created in 1995 • Written by Ward Cunningham • Originally christened ‘WikiWikiWeb’ • ‘WikiWiki’ means fast in Hawaii

  11. What problems or issues exist ? • Free Wikis do not have the Enterprise class security built into the free models. Anyone authorized can modify the content at will. • Enterprise security is not available in any free Wiki. • Enterprise security is available only with commercialized versions of Wikis. • Little or no support for Microsoft SQL in all but two Wikis
