Biography Joan Miroó i Ferràa was born in Barcelona in 1893 and he died in Palma de Mallorca in 1983.
He had to retire in his family house in a village, because he suffered from a disease.
When he came back to Barcelona, he went to learn painting and drawing in an Arts academy.
Throughout his lifetime he created several works and he collaborated with otherartists. He received a lot of awards in recognition of his works. The last years of his life he wanted to show his own unknown and different artistic ideas.
Thought In his work , Joan Miró followed a trend called Surrealism. He was a creator, he made art works from the ideas that he wanted to express. He understood that Surrealism is an automatism which is inside ourselves. He thought that all different ways of expression were valid. He considered that one could create everything out of anything. In his work it is more important the idea or the concept he wants to communicate rather than how the final result is.
