Project Priority Areas • Curriculum Innovation • Develop new certificate and degree programs • Prior Learning Assessments (PLAs) • Create portfolio assessments to award credits for work-place learning • Enhanced Internships & Placement Services • Secure internships and placements for participants • Summer Undergraduate Research Program • Sustainability

Project Goals • Accelerate progress for low-skilled and other workers. • Improve retention and achievement rates and/or reduce completion time of industry recognized credentials, certificates and degrees. • Build programs that meet the industry needs, and develop career pathways. • Strengthen online and technology-enabled learning.

  6. Project Overview • Budget • Funding in the amount of $12.1M over three years • Target populations • TAA eligible • Un - and under-employed workers • Veterans • Target Industry • Health Care, Life Sciences (Biotechnology)

Project Overview (con’t) • Goal • Create 15 new certificate/degree programs • Deliver courses to 2,700 students • Assist 675 students in earning 10,000+ PLAs credits • Provide 360 internships over three years (statewide) • Consortium members • 5 Community Colleges: Capital, Gateway, Manchester, Middlesex and Norwalk • 2 ConnSCU members: Charter Oak State College & Eastern Connecticut State University

  8. Statewide Coordination, Local Choice • Each of the colleges build new and/or redesigned accelerated programs in health and life sciences industry sectors • Statewide system integration • Statewide curriculum • Developmental education = College Readiness • Local choice to meet local needs
