In favour • At the age of 18 youth have no idea of responsibility towards democracy. • Reduction of voting age to 18 is a way of increasing the number of voters but by this way we can’t improve the quality of our democracy. • Immature and dependent people are carried away by unrealistic promises in rural area where people are simple honest but can be misled and duped easily. • Reduction of age to 18 for voting automatically draw students to politics. This education will be affected. • Our elders should bear this responsibility and ask the youth to share this responsibility when is mature at the age of 21.

  3. Against • Students are already involved in politics of students union, their participation in election will make them responsible. • A girl is permitted to marry at the age of 18. If it is considered good enough for family responsibility then why can’t it be good for a responsible voter. • There is need to involve greater number of people in formation of a government in democracy. • It is not harmful because maturity level of mass has increased due to general awareness.
