The Life of Bono! • Bono aka Paul David Hewson was born on the 10th May 1960 in The Rotunda Hospital. • At fifteen Bono joined the school's Christian Union and in 1976 joined a band. Later, Bono started writing his own music, with much inspiration from Bruce Springsteen.
Outside of school Bono joined an association called Lypton Village, where Bono met a group of friends. At Lypton Village, this is where Paul Hewson obtained his nickname of Bono or Bono Vox (Bono hated the vox, and later it was dropped). That was when Bono gave the name of The Edge to Dave Evans. Also the name of the band changed from Feedback to the Hype. Dick Evans soon left the band, leaving the remaining members as a four piece, and this led them to change their name for the last time to U2. After tireless gigs, they were sooned signed by Paul Mcguinness who is still there manager to date.
