  4. Origin • Newspaper ad caught Michael Lang’s attention • Investors looking for “legitimate business opportunity” • Lang met with investors and discussed Thus… Woodstock was born!

  5. Location • Bethel, New York • Max Yasgur’s 600 acre dairy farm

  6. Max Yasgur? • An American farmer • Agreed to lease his land for $50,000 • Believed in freedom of expression • Provided food and water at the concert
