  1. Best Buddies Come in All Shapes and Sizes

  2. Here are the squares. They live all by themselves in Square Town.

  3. Here are the circles: They live all by themselves in Circle Town.

  4. Here are the rectangles: They live all by themselves in Rectangle Town.

  5. Here are the triangles: They live all by themselves in Triangle Town.

  6. The squares say this:If you want to be beautiful, smart and good then you must have four sides exactly the same and be able to do cartwheels. If you do not have four sides exactly the same and cannot do cartwheels, then you are stupid, ugly and bad, bad, bad.

  7. The circles say this: If you want to be beautiful, smart and good then you must be perfectly round and be able to roll very, very fast. If you are not perfectly round and cannot roll very, very fast, then you are stupid, ugly and bad, bad, bad.

  8. The rectangles say this:If you want to be beautiful, smart and good then you must have two short sides the same and two long sides the same and be able to stretch up and down. If you do not have two short sides and two long sides and cannot stretch up and down, then you are stupid, ugly and bad, bad, bad.

  9. The triangles say this:If you want to be beautiful, smart and good then you must have three sides and be able to balance on one point. If you do not have three sides and cannot balance on one point, then you are stupid, ugly and bad, bad, bad.

  10. The squares do not like the circles. • The circles do not like the triangles. • The rectangles do not like the squares. • They don’t like anyone who is not like themselves. • They think the others are ugly, stupid and bad, bad, bad.

  11. One beautiful day, the squares and the triangles and the rectangles and the circles all went out to play… but not together.

  12. Then something happened. A circle slipped and went rolling down the hill to where the rectangles were playing. The rectangles were mad. They started calling the circle names and yelling at him.

  13. The other shapes heard the commotion and they joined in. There was more noise and more yelling and more fighting. It was terrible! ! c

  14. One rectangle became so angry that he jumped up and came down on top of two circles. Oh wonder of wonders! The rectangle and circles had made a wagon. A lovely, beautiful wagon! Soon everyone wanted to make something!

  15. Some rectangles and triangles made trees. Squares and triangles made houses.

  16. They spent the whole day helping to make things that were awesome!

  17. At the end of the day they sang a little song:We are glad, glad, gladBeing different is not bad!
