Effectiveness of Japanese Encephalitis Immunization Program Using Inactivated Mouse Brain Derived Vaccine in Thailand, 2009 : A Case-Control Study(Charung Muangchana et al) • Vaccine effectiveness among children aged > 18 months old was estimated at 94.6% (95%CI, 79.6%-98.6%) • With adjusted effectiveness was 97.50% (95%CI, 88.60%-99.50%). • 15% of cases were children under 18 months of age.

  4. Concerns for JE vaccines in Thailand • Inactivated mouse brain derived • Limited duration of the induced protection • Need for multiple doses • Adverse events: rash, severe AEFI-rare (potentially fatal acute disseminated encephalomyelitis and hypersensitivity reactions) • Insecure procurement • Limited suppliers (mouse brain derived) • Domestic source--GPO (GMP concerned)

  10. ประเด็นการใช้วัคซีนไข้สมองอักเสบเจอีประเด็นการใช้วัคซีนไข้สมองอักเสบเจอี • ประเทศไทยมีนโยบายเพื่อส่งเสริมการพัฒนาศักยภาพในการวิจัยพัฒนา-ผลิตวัคซีน เพื่อให้ประเทศสามารถพึ่งตนเองด้านวัคซีนได้อย่างเหมาะสม • กระทรวงสาธารณสุข มีแผนการพัฒนาจัดหาวัคซีน JE เพื่อให้ได้วัคซีนรุ่นใหม่ ที่มีคุณภาพดีขึ้นและมีความปลอดภัยสูง มาใช้ทดแทนวัคซีนปัจจุบัน

  11. คณะอนุกรรมการสร้างเสริมภูมิคุ้มกันโรค ได้ให้คำแนะนำ เมื่อ 7 ก.ค. 2552 • องค์การเภสัชกรรม ร่วมกับมหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล วิจัยพัฒนาเพื่อผลิตวัคซีนชนิดเชื้อตายที่เพาะในเซลเพาะเลี้ยง (เริ่มผลิตได้ ในปี 2558) • กรมควบคุมโรค มีแผนจะใช้วัคซีนชนิดใหม่แทนวัคซีน JE SMBV ในปี 2558 ที่องค์การฯ ผลิตได้ • พิจารณาใช้วัคซีนชนิดใหม่จากแหล่งอื่น หากการพัฒนาขององค์การเภสัชกรรมไม่เป็นผล • ตามความเหมาะสมของสถานการณ์ โดยอยู่ในกรอบนโยบายวัคซีนแห่งชาติ
