  2. Eligibility for Testing • The student must reside within the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD boundary or qualify under the open enrollment policy. (proof of residency required) • The student must be enrolled in a Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD school (proof of enrollment required). • The student must turn 6 years old by November 1st,2013 (birth certificate required).

  3. Application Process • Parents may request an application by contacting Advanced Academic Services @ 972.968.4367. • A testing date will be scheduled when the completed application is returned.

  4. Testing Dates 2013 - 2014 • June 11th – 13th, 2013 • Application Deadline: June 5th, 2013 • August 7th – 9th, 2013 • Application Deadline: August 1st, 2013 • Application submission deadlines and testing dates are posted on the C-FB ISD website.

  6. Test Information • Kindergarten Acceleration means your child will “test out of” the full year of kindergarten curriculum and instruction. • In other words, the child has already acquired a great deal of knowledge and academic skills and can demonstrate that through testing. • Test content is based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Kindergarten. http://www.tea.state.tx.us/index2.aspx?id=6148 • There are no study materials available.

  7. Acceleration Requirements • Students must score 90 % or above on the district approved assessments in Reading, Language, and Mathematics. The Language portion includes responding to a writing prompt. • No partial credit will be given.

  8. Social/Emotional Readiness Kindergarten Acceleration to first grade goes beyond academic performance. • In addition to being academically prepared, it is important that your child be socially and emotionally ready for first grade. The progress of a student accelerated to first grade will be monitored during the first six weeks of school. A recommendation can be made to place the child in Kindergarten at that time.

  9. Testing Day • On the day of the test, please arrive for check-in between 8:15 and 8:20 a.m. Testing will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Parents will wait in our building and will be required to sign their child out before leaving. • What to bring on the day of testing: A well - rested child Water bottle Light jacket • Small snack

  10. Results of Testing Results will be mailed to the address on the application within one week of testing. For privacy reasons, results may not be e-mailed.
