  2. Bilabial • Two lips come togother • English bilabial sounds include : • \p\voiceless bilabial plosive(park) • \b\voiced bilabial plosive(bed) • \m\ voiced bilabial nasal(man)

  3. Labio-dental • The lower lip come with the upper teeth. • English lbio-dental sounds include: • \f\ voiceless lbio-dental fricative (fan) • \v\voicd lbio-dental fricative (van)

  4. Dental • The tip of the tongue touches the upper teeth. • English dental sounds include: • \ \voiceless dental fricative(thin) • \ \voiced dental fricative (thirst)

  5. Alveolar • The tip of the tongue touches the the alveolar ridge behind the upper teeth. • English alveolar sounds include: • \t\ voiceless alvolar plosive(tap) • \d\ voiced alvolar plosive(desert) • \s\voiceless alvolar africative(suit) • \z\ voiced alvolar africative (zoo) • \n\ voiced alvolar nasal(nose) • \l\voiced alvolar lateral(lored) • \r\ voiced alvolar trill (room)

Palato-alveolar • The tip of the tongue is close to the alveolar ridge whil the front of the tongue is concave to the roof of the mouth. • English palato- alveolar sounds include: • \tʃ \ voiceless palato-alveolar affricats (chin) • \d3\ voiced palato-alveolar fricative voiced palato-alveolar affricats(gentle) • \ʃ \ voiceless palato-alveolar fricative(ship) • \3\ voiceless palato-alveolar fricative (ledger)

  7. Palatal • The front of the tongue approximates to the hard palatel. • English palatal sounds include: • \j\ voicd palatal sime-vowel (yes)

  8. Velar • The back of the tongue approximates to the soft palatel. • English velar sounds include: • \k\voiceless velar plosive (clock) • \g\ voiced velar plosive (garden) • \ \ voiced velar nasal (ring) • \w\voiced velar semi-vowel (watch)

  9. Note: \h\ sound is called glottal sound,it’s a whisper sound made in larynx (hot).
