  3. WUFS is financially solid • The budget year 2013-14 there will: • No lay-offs • Maintain free breakfast and lunch for all students • Johnstown tuition will remain at $1950 per student thru 2016

  6. Increases Health Insurance (+6%) ERS (+10.6%)/TRS (+37.25%) Technology (Infrastructure, computers, programs) Common Core Implementation APPR ( STAR, pre-assessments)

ERS/TRS= Major cost driver Employee Retirement System (ERS): The contribution rate is increasing from 18.9% to 20.9%, which is actually a rate increase of 10.6% ( Questar III BOCES) Teacher Retirement System (TRS): The contribution rate is increasing from 11.84% of total salaries to 16.25% next year, which is actually a rate increase of 37.25%(Questar III BOCES)

  10. High Tax Aid • In January the estimated amount of High Tax Aid was $75, 000, which would have been a reduction of $67,853. The final passage of the budget restored this aid to $142, 853, which is what we were at last year. • High Tax Aid is essentially how the state calculates whether or not the property tax base is too high of a percentage of the overall budget (the tax levy) based on the relative wealth of the community.  The property values are so high relative to wealth because of the lake property.  • High Tax Aid (definition)- provided to districts where the property tax burden is high relative to income

  11. High Tax Aid • The final 2013-14 final budget rejected the Executive Budget Proposal related to high tax aid and restores funding to this initiative. • January 22: • High Tax Aid= $75,090 • Gap Elimination Adjustment (GEA)= $5,415 • March 22 • High Tax Aid= $ 142,853 • GEA= $99,167
