5. Education & Formation Commission: • 1997 – approved as E&F Committee by the National Board of NACFLM. Work began on Ministry with Families 101. Piloted in Regions I, II, and X by members of the E&F Committee. • 2001 – Education & Formation Commission established. • 2001 – Received Lily Grant for three years – offered 20 MWF 101 formation programs across the country. • Members of NACFM were chosen to begin the creation of formation programs that would assist its members to receive professional development and to provide mutual support for those who minister with families. • Additional NACFLM members trained to be part of a cadre that offered Ministry With Families formation across the country. 6. Initiation Ministry With Families Courses Began: • Course 101: Initiated as a 2-day Post-Conference in Pittsburg at the annual NACFLM Conference 2000. • Trainers Manual completed in 2001. Cadre of Trainers added. • Course 101: Became a regular pre-conference offering at most NACFLM Annual Conferences. • Course 201: Initiated at the 2005 NACFLM Conference (2 day pre-conference). • Ministry With Families 301: Initiated in 2008. • Note: With the help of our Spanish-speaking NACFLM members and presenters, we now offer MWF 101 in Spanish. 201 is on the way. 9. MINISTRY WITH FAMILIES 101 • This leadership formation course is designed to be an introduction to ministry from a family perspective. It addreses the needs of those new to the topic or seeking review and renewal. • It is an experiential learning process that assists the individual minister to integrate his/her learning at a personal as well as a ministerial level. Incorporating a family perspective in ministry is a central theme through the process. Participants gain knowledge and insights about the domestic church and increase their capacity for ministry with and among families. National Association of Catholic Family Life Ministers

MINISTRY WITH FAMILIES 201 • This formation process course is designed for those who have completed the course, Ministry withFamilies101, and for others who have already had extensive experience in bringing a family perspective to their ministry. • Participants will gain a deeper understanding of marriage and family throughout the life cycle, with a concentration on the theological, scriptural, spiritual and ministerial dimensions of this topic. MINISTRY WITH FAMILIES 301 • Each Ministry with Families 301 course is individually designed for a specific group (clergy, religious, university students, lay movement leaders, etc.) as part of their continuing education. It is based on the content of Ministry with Families 101 and Ministry with Families 201, and the content that addresses the particular needs of the participants.
