What Does Four County Have To Offer? • 31 vocational/technical programs • Job placement services • Internship/Mentorship, Early Job Placement, Summer Work Experience, Apprenticeships • Career Passport (transcript, resume, letters of recommendation and list of competencies achieved) • Student Activities that offer opportunities for leadership, competition and scholarship • College Credit • Opportunity to still attend 2-year and 4-year colleges.

  3. Still A BHS Student • Students are still considered to be BHS students! • They will graduate from BHS. • They may participate in BHS extracurricular activities and sports. • They may participate in all BHS events. • They may apply for all BHS scholarships.

  4. Earning College Credit • Tech Prep and Dual Enrollment • Tech Prep means that should a student attend a related college after high school, the college will recognize their work at Four County for college credit to be applied to the degree. • Dual enrollment is receiving college and high school credit for approved academic courses offered at Four County. • Students may still participate in post secondary option through BHS. • Students must meet certain academic requirements to qualify for college credit and should work with FC staff for the full details.

  5. Process For Applying • Applications are due January 27th - February 1st! • Will mark a 1st and 2nd choice. • Some programs have admission preferences (i.e. GPA, math scores, etc.) • Must have 6.5 credits by the end of the 1st semester of Sophomore year to submit an application. • If they do not, their application will be held at BHS and sent in as soon as they have their 6.5 credits but their choices will be limited. • Must have 8 credits by the beginning of Junior to attend. • They will be notified by the beginning of March regarding what program they were placed into, orientation, summer activities, etc.

  6. What Will It Cost? • Fees at Four County should be looked at as a career investment, much like college student loans. • School Uniforms: Depending on program will run approximately $50 to $80+. • Program Fees: Depends on program and run as little as $25 to $400+ for the year. • Fees typically decrease Senior year due to fact that students have purchased supplies, tools, uniforms already Junior year. • Students who qualify for free lunch should have schools fees waived due to state law. Does not include uniforms. • Four County will set up payment plans with parents in need. • Outside groups have provided support in past. Qualified students will be notified if these funds become available.

  7. Transportaion • Students may ride the BHS bus to and from Four County each day. • Leaves BHS around 8:00 and returns around 3:20. • Students may also transport themselves. • Students will follow the Four County calendar and follow delays/cancellations for both schools.

  8. BHS Policies About Attending Four County • Students unsure about attending are encouraged to apply to Four County and schedule Junior classes at BHS. They will then have until May 11th to make a final decision. • If a student only applies to Four County, they MUST attend the next year. If they change their mind prior to their Junior year, they will not be able to return to BHS until they have attended the 1st 10 days at Four County. Students wishing to return at this time must work with BHS and Four County staff. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE! • The other two times a student may return to BHS are the end of 1st semester of Junior year and prior to beginning Senior year. No student may return partway through Senior year.

  9. Discovery Days • Another opportunity to visit Four County and make final decisions. • Feb. 14 / Feb. 21 / Feb. 28 • AM Session – 9:30am – 11:00am • PM Session – 1:00pm – 2:30pm • Students will visit 2 programs and then have a Q & A session with counselors. • Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.

  10. Future Dates • Application Deadline: Feb. 1 • Discovery Day: Feb. 14, Feb. 21 & Feb. 28 • Dinner With The Instructor: April 5, 5:30-7:00 • Final Decision Deadline for those with a BHS Schedule: May 11 • Orientation: May 19, 23 or 24, 5:00-7:30 (depends on program)
