  2. LESSONS OF HISTORY What caused the downfall of the Sultans. George Santayana – Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

  3. UMNO works on divide-and-rule. The UMNO War Machine is designed to entrench UMNO power forever. The opposition party/coalition need 53% to win, which has never been achieved. Without a change of government, UMNO will continue to divide and rob the nation. This may work fine from within. What about external threats?

  4. WHAT IS THE DANGER FACING US? • Greed, • Fear, • Disunity. • We have become very weak! Danger of Colonialisation!

  5. MELAKA: 1403 to 1511: Melaka established by Parameswara. (Iskandar Shah). China protected Melaka from the Siamese, allowing it to grow in peace. Later China withdrew from all contact with the outside world.

  6. FALL OF MELAKA:Greed & Disunity 1511 Sultan Mahmud cheated and robbed the local traders. In revenge, a rich Chitty name Nina Chatu helped the Portuguese to conquer Melaka on 10 Aug 1511. Thus ended the Melaka Sultanate because the Ruler was not just to the people.

  7. FALL OF MELAKA: 1641: The Dutch with the help of the Johore Sultan defeated the Portuguese to take Melaka. Melaka fell under the control of the Dutch until 1842.

  8. BRITISH TOOK CONTROL OF MALAYA: Greed, Fear & Disunity The British strategy for control was always the same: Play on greed, fear and disunity of the local rulers to gain control, or exchange with another controlling power. Then they will appoint a Resident to control the Rulers from behind the scenes.

  9. PENANG: Fear 1786 : The Kedah Sultan was fearful of the Siamese. He leased Penang to British hoping for military protection from the Burmese and the Siamese. The British leased the island but did not give the protection expected. In anger, he attacked Penang but ended up losing Penang on a permanent lease.

  10. SINGAPORE:Greed – 2 brothers fighting for the Johore throne. 1819: British supported the elder brother to the throne and deposed the existing Sultan. In return, Singapore was leased to the British.

  11. MELAKA:Anglo-Dutch Treaty. 1824: British gave Sumatra to the Dutch in exchange for control of Melaka.

  12. NEGRI SEMBILAN:Greed – Quarrel over control of territory by local chieftians. 1873: British supported the control of Dato’ Kelana, Sayid Abdul Rahman, over Sg Ujong. That allowed the British to have eventual control over Negri Sembilan.

  13. PERAK: Treaty of Pangkor.Greed – 2 claimants fighting for the Perak throne. 20 Jan 1874: British supported one of the claimants, Raja Abdullah, in exchange for control over Perak.

  14. SELANGOR:Greed – Tribal chiefs fight over tin taxes in Klang 1875: The Selangor Sultan was too weak to control the fighting. He sought for British protection in exchange for British control over Selangor.

  15. PAHANG: Greed – 2 brothers fighting over the throne. 1887: The British supported one brother to the throne in exchange for British control over Pahang.

  16. FEDERATED MALAY STATES 1895: British consolidated four states, Negri Sembilan, Perak, Pahang and Selangor into the Federated Malay States with Kuala Lumpur as the capital.

  17. Anglo-Siamese Treaty 1909: Siam ceded control of the 4 northern Malay states, Perlis, Kedah, Terengganu & Kelantan to the British.

  18. JOHORE & UNFEDERATED MALAY STATES 1914: Sultan Ibrahim accepted a British Resident to take control of Johore. The British consolidated Kedah, Kelantan, Perlis, Trengganu and Johore into the Unfederated Malay States.

  19. JAPANESE INVASION UNDER WORLD WAR II Dec 1941: Japan invaded Malaya and British surrendered in Feb 1942. Myth of White Man Supremacy shattered. The Japanese ruled until the Japanese surrender in Aug 1945. British Allied Forces landed on 5 Sept 1945 to take control.

  20. MALAYAN UNION: Fear 1 Apr 1946: Malayan Union launched with Sultans ceding powers to the British. It would be a unitary state with Malaya & Singapore under a British Governor. There was wide-spread protests led by the upper-class Malays in UMNO as they played on the fears of rural Malays being swamped by the Chinese. Leftists Malayans , communists opposed it because there was no provision for independence.

  21. THE MALAYAN UNION WAS A TRICK TO DECEIVE THE MALAYS INTO ACCEPTING UMNO AS THEIR PROTECTOR ! Feb 1948: By Jul 1946, the British retracted the Malayan Union and immediately commenced negotiations with the Sultans and UMNO over a new agreement – Federation of Malaya Agreement.

  22. FEDERATION OF MALAYA AGREEMENT: Divide-and-Rule The British were comfortable with UMNO as they were led by the scions of the Malay chiefs - upper class Malays taught and raised in British schools. They were basically Anglophiles. And the British hoped that they could continue with the control of Malaya using UMNO as their front-men.

  23. DECLARATION OF EMERGENCY.Clearing the way for UMNO as the British Proxy. 1948: The British sidelined all the leftist Malayans and communists. In fact, with the declaration of Emergency Rule in 1948, they put all the leftist leaders in jail, clearing the way for UMNO to win elections unimpeded. Expanding the definition of a Malay.

  24. RUN-UP TO MERDEKA:Greed 1957: MCA and MIC came on board to form the Alliance with UMNO. At the time, the British controlled 70% of the economy. They trusted only UMNO and handed over full administrative and military power to them. With such special treatment, UMNO got the idea that the British had handed over Malaya as a colony for them to rule.

  25. OWNING MALAYA Ever since then, UMNO had thought and behaved as if the country belonged to them. How else can we explain the behaviour of political leaders who blatantly rob and plunder the nation’s resources without a drop of conscience!

  26. FORMATION OF MALAYSIA 16 Sept 1963: The British was happy with UMNO’s performance. They decided to hand over Singapore, Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei to UMNO. Brunei declined to join. Malaya, Sabah, Singapore, and Sarawak formed Malaysia. To UMNO, 3 states was added to Malaya. To the new-comers, it was a union of 4 equals. This has been a bone of contention ever since.

  27. SINGAPORE EXPELLED. THE REST SUPPRESSED. 9 Aug 1965: UMNO could not handle Singapore and decided to expel her. Sabah and Sarawak were retained and they soon experienced the heavy-hand of UMNO rule when the Sarawak Chief Minister, Stephen Kalong Ningkan was ousted in 1966 under Emergency Rule. Millions of immigrants were brought into Sabah to dilute the natives’ voter base.

  28. MAY 13, 1969 The May 1969 elections show UMNO losing their 2/3’s majority. Fearing the loss of political power, UMNO triggered communal riots. Emergency Rule was declared and UMNO consolidated their power over the nation.

  29. NEW ECONOMIC POLICY (NEP) 1970 - 1990: Launched of New Economic Policy to eradicate poverty irrespective of race and restructure economic imbalances among the races. The objectives were noble. Sadly, due to lack of check and balance, the policy was hijacked by corrupt politicians and government officials, leading to wide-spread abuse and major policy failures.

  30. WAWASAN 2020 1990: UMNO’s promise to end the NEP by 1990 was not kept. Instead, the NEP was extended under the New Development Policy (NDP) and dressed up with a new vision – Wawasan 2020: developed-nation status by 2020. As is usual with all UMNO policies, they are long on promises but short in performance, because of corruption.

  31. THE FUTURE: BANKRUPTCY BY 2020 & RE-COLONIALIZATION! 2010: After more than 50 years of UMNO rule, the trend is very clear. We are headed for a failed state and bankruptcy by 2020. We have achieved more than half of the 12 criteria of a failed state. UMNO is setting us up to be colonialize again. This time, through the Global Banking families, the IMF, the World Bank and Singapore.

  32. REMOVING UMNO AND REBUILDING The choice for us is clear. To save the nation, we must change the system so that we can start rebuilding! But UMNO has institutionalized electoral fraud to such a high degree that it is almost impossible to vote them out.
