  1. Samantha Kay The Effects of Technology and Society Texas Tech University

  2. Introduction • Though previous research has suggested that limiting information and communication technology (ICT) would be helpful to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, keeping face-to-face communication alive, new research shows a positive correlation with social anxiety (not comfortable talking face-to-face) and communicating online or via text messaging.

  3. Studies on Social Skills • Within this paragraph, the main focus is on the effects ICT has on social skills. The studies being synthesized find that social skills are effected somehow, whether one believes it to be a positive effect and the other a negative effect.

  4. Effects on Language • Linguistic effects on society in relation to ICT has been a main concern, therefore I made this a second subtopic to synthesize. Some researchers I used, believe the use of ICT will not have an effect on language as whole, while in contrast, other researchers believe ICT will have a long-term effect in language.

  5. Behavior • Research shows behavior is changing in society with the use of ICT. Authors used in synthesizing this paragraph explain different changes in behavior and its effect on society, positively and negatively.

  6. Conclusion • Understanding the use of ICT and studying its effect on society will hence help with reshaping how one interacts with another, alter what makes one happy, and modify one's capacity for reaching his or her full potential as an individual.
