  2. Summarizing, Text Features. unknown words in context, analyzing/comparing and contrast, transition words, non-fiction/ brainstorming, pre-writing, and creating main idea/details with support from article. Focus-What are we learning?

Review of Method of organization • Main idea/details: Headings, states topic sentence and offers support/examples/data, informational… • Cause and effect – what caused something and outcome- • Compare – contrast-similarities, differences • Description- descriptive language and uses imagery/figurative language.– scene, character, object, poems, scene • What’s ___________ about the article? Copy in class notes what you need to review if you forgot.

  12. 6 pts (period 6/7- Friday and periods 1-5 on Monday Nov. 5th • Using summary notes from Choices magazine, compare/contrast with time magazine • In a Venn Diagram or in paragraphs, separate compare/contrast the following: • 1. title and introduction • 2. complexity of text (difficulty) and why • 3. types of shows involved • 4. morals - what does the article say about reality tv being good for us • 5. author's purpose: Persuade, inform, entertain, describe and why • 6. the author's view point (opinion) overall and why Fill in 3 things you learned in KWL chart.
