  5. What is the SAT? • A globally recognized college admission test • Tests your knowledge of reading, writing and math • Almost all colleges and universities use the SAT to make admission decisions

  9. SAT Registration College Board (CEEB) Codes CEEB are used to send your scores to your desired colleges or scholarships These codes are needed when: • Registering for the SAT Test • Sending scores to colleges and scholarships Codes are available online or when sending scores

  11. SAT Test Day Must have: • Your Admission Ticket • 2 No. 2 pencils and a soft eraser • Photo identification • An Acceptable Calculator • Graphing calculators • Scientific calculators

  12. SAT Test Day Good to have: • A watch (without an audible alarm) • Extra batteries and backup equipment • A bag or backpack • A drink or snacks (for your break)

  13. SAT Test Day Duration: 3 and half hours Breakdown • Six 25-minute sections • Two writing, two reading, and two math • Two 20-minute sections • One reading and one math • One 10-minute writing section with grammar questions

  14. SAT Scores • Scores are available about 3-4 weeks after the test • If you would like to send your scores to another college not included during the registration, scores can be sent for a small fee.

  15. SAT Scores Ranges: • Critical reading score of 200-800 • Writing score of 200-800 • Math score of 200-800 Overall score: Adding all three scores together

  16. SAT Scores Scoring • Each correct answer counts one point • Each omitted question counts zero points • Wrong answer: • Has no penalty (grid-in math questions) • Can cost you 1/4 of a point (all the multiple-choice questions)

What is the ACT? • The ACT is a national college admissions examination • The ACT includes English, mathematics, reading and science • The ACT Plus Writing includes the four subject area tests plus a 30-minute Writing Test • ACT results are accepted by all four-year colleges and universities in the U.S.

  25. ACT Test Day Duration: 3 hours Breakdown • 45 minutes for the English test • 60 minutes for the Math test • 35 minutes for the Science test • 35 minutes for the Reading test

  26. ACT Scores • Scores are available about 2 – 8 weeks after the test • These scores will be available through your ACT Web account
